Genshin Impact is finally unlocking its KFC content for players in the United States.
If you are (understandably) confused by this development, let's do a quick recap. Back in March 2021, it was discovered that a dream crossover was underway between Chinese game developer miHoYo and the fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (who have done similarly bizarre collaborations in the past).
This mainly took the form of a special offer, where you could go into one of the Colonel's restaurants and awkwardly proclaim "Meet in another world, Enjoy delicious food". If you weren't suitably mortified by this exchange, then you would be given a special pin and various cosmetics for use in the recently award-nommianted Genshin Impact.
At the time, the content associated with this promotion was only available to those on Chinese servers of Genshin Impact, but it is now opening up to the rest of the world. This means that you will finally have a chance to get the KFC wind glider.
How to Get the KFC Glider Skin in 'Genshin Impact'
If the idea of waltzing into a KFC restaurant and saying a catchphrase aloud to a member of staff chills you to your very core, rest assured that you won't actually have to do that in America.
Instead, to get the KFC "Wings of Feasting" winder glider Skin (which makes your traversal device look like it's made out of chicken feathers) you just have to buy a couple of subscriptions on Twitch.
However, this does not apply to just any random streamers, and you will have to contribute money to specific content creators who have partnered with both miHoYo and KFC.
The list of participating streamers is not available yet (they will be listed here on November 24). Yet once they are, you will need to head over to one of those channels and purchase two months of Tier 1 subscriptions.
After doing this, you will then receive a redemption code that entitles you to the KFC glider, 30,000 Mora, and some food items (namely jade parcels, tonkotsu ramen, and sautéed matsutake). According to the official blog post, you will need to be at least Adventure Rank 10 in Genshin Impact to be eligible to use this redemption code.
To subscribe to a Twitch channel, head over to their page and look for the "subscribe" button next to the purple "Follow" button. If they are currently broadcasting, it will be just below the livestream itself, next to their username.
When you do so, it will automatically default to a one-month Tier 1 subscription (you will need two months for the KFC glider code) but you can change these options.
When Is the KFC Glider Skin Coming to 'Genshin Impact'?
The Twitch promotion will start on Wednesday, November 24 at 12 p.m. ET. It will then end at 10:59 a.m. ET on December 8, giving you a fortnight to use your code.
After this deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to redeem the KFC glider, or any of the other rewards.
The KFC Glider will launch on the exact same day as Genshin Impact version 2.3 "Shadow Amidst Snowstorms". You can find out more about this update and what it entails here.
