A lighting company has opened a large distribution center in Lemoyne.

GE Current has opened the new 150,000-square-foot center at 221 S. 10th St.

GE Current says that it enhances commercial and industrial facilities, cities, greenhouses and other operations with advanced lighting. The company said in a press release that the new center will allow for GE Current to provide same-day and next-day service to more of its customers.

“Our new Harrisburg distribution center will help Current meet the needs of our customers and partners in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic quickly and efficiently,” GE Current’s chief commercial officer, Chip Taylor said in the press release.

The company said that the new facility now stocks a robust offering of its products and will ramp up to full operations in the coming weeks. In addition to its regular distribution services, the center also offers will-call service for electric distributors and contractors.

It’s not clear how many people the company will employ at the facility. Jim Benson of GE Current couldn’t be reached for comment. The building was previously leased by Veritiv, which leased 311,707 square feet of the facility before ceasing operations at that warehouse at the end of 2019. The facility was built in 1997 and has 885,346 square feet of space and is right near the Coca-Cola facility in Lemoyne.
