Local Rideshare Company Is First to Offer Vaccinated Driver Option - Hawaiipublicradio

A local rideshare company is offering a new service option for passengers.

Users of Hawaiʻi-based Holoholo can now choose to ride with a vaccinated driver when scheduling their next ride — at no extra cost.

Holoholo is the first rideshare company to offer this service.

CEO Cecil Morton says the company wants all riders to feel safe — and giving passengers the option to ride with a vaccinated driver helps provide peace of mind.

Morton says drivers interested in adding the service option can upload their vaccination cards through the Holoholo driver app.

Morton has been in the local ground transportation industry for 27 years as the CEO of businesses like SpeediShuttle and Arthur’s Limousine Service.

He spoke to HPR's The Conversation in August about what prompted him to start the business.

“During the pandemic, I actually had to shut down our other services, which have been around for more than 20 years here in Hawaiʻi," he said. "During that period when we all didn’t know when we were going to welcome people back to the state, I thought about different ideas to maybe diversify."

"What came about was the technology to enter into this domain to offer this other option," he said.
