CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - From March 24 through March 26, Peak Rescue, a Wyoming-based rescue education company competed in an international rescue skills challenge in California.
The competition, sponsored by CMC, is called GRIMP North America. The 2022 competition was hosted in Los Angeles on the Battleship Iowa.
“What I love about the competition is you can’t really simulate real-world rescues, which a lot of us go on, but it actually it does help with the stress and the time sort of everybody watching you... The competition’s really I wouldn’t say real-world rescue but it puts a lot of it in there,” said Peak Rescue Lead Instructor Micah Rush.
The event is designed for education and competition. Global rescue teams come together as a community to sharpen their skills. The competition allows rescuers to foster learning and collaboration which makes future rescues safer and more successful.
12 teams from five countries competed in the 2022 events. Peak Rescue was named the winning team.
“We try to pride ourselves on the systems that we use very simple systems we try to make it easy for the user try to not get too complex but yeah the guys we took there all from Wyoming really good I’m just proud of the team that’s awesome,” said Rush.
Peak Rescue offers training in the US and internationally for industry, confined space, and mountain rescues. For more information about Peak Rescue, visit their website.
