The latest episode of Impact Wrestling had a very special aura surrounding it. The wrestling world was buzzing, there was true excitement in the air.
There is no counting out Kenny Omega. If it wasn’t an old saying already, let’s make it one. He has been at the top of the wrestling world multiple times. As of this article, it would seem that Kenny is back on top once again. With Omega’s appearance on Impact Wrestling, the viewership skyrocket as the result.
The viewership was also greatly affected by Impact releasing the full episode on YouTube. The video is nearing 300,000 views and we expect the number to grow. While most people were tuning in to see what would happen with Kenny Omega, Impact focused on giving those new viewers a reason to stay.
One of the first things you see on the show was TNA originals The Motor City Machine Guns. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are still one of the top tag teams in wrestling and give Impact Wrestling a much-needed homely feeling. Where Impact Wrestling has lost TNA roots, Shelley and Sabin help provide that in a big way.
Where they help provide the roots, Eric Young has dug deep into his role. During his run with WWE, Eric Young’s potential was never reconized. He was overlooked and WWE missed out on a true star in Young. Since returning to Impact at Slammiversary in July, Eric Young has shown how good he truly is. He has already held the Impact World Championship since his return.
Young had a great match against Cody Deaner that showcased both men to a possible unfamiliar audience, especially for Deaner. Cody looked good in the match but Young came up victorious. The Knockout’s Tag Team Championship tournament continued with Taya Valkyrie and Rosemary picking up a huge victory to advance.
The most intriguing story to come from this match came later. When Deonna Purrazzo went to complain to Scott D’Amore, she received the only thing she didn’t ask for. Now Purrazzo will have to defend the Knockout’s Championship against Rosemary, which should be a great match.
Since arriving in Impact Wrestling, Deonna has been a true star and Rosemary has been solid in the company for years. Even Josh Mathews said on Impact that she may be the cornerstone of the company. Along with those already mentioned, Impact’s Knockouts are truly in a league of their own. Stars like Tenille Dashwood, Su Yung, and Jordynne Grace have continued the legacy of the knockout’s division.
After years of fighting to stay alive, Impact Wrestling has finally gotten back into a grove. Now that All Elite Wrestling has gotten involved with the company, I can only see things continuing to going up for the company. Hopefully, they will continue to release full episodes on YouTube to help gain viewership. Stars in the company are truly deserving of the ratings.
Stars like Sami Callihan, Eddie Edwards, Su Yung, and Taya Valkyrie have been leaders of the roster for years now. Those who have helped rebuild this company are deserving of the views and we hope they can maintain those views with or without AEW’s involvement. One look at the roster, you can tell the talent is there. Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Moose, Chris Bey, Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers.
The list of talent is truly endless on the roster. They have stars that deserve attention as much as WWE and AEW stars get. While Impact Wrestling gains the most on paper, AEW has as much to gain from working with Impact.
