The new revival of “Company” will resume Broadway performances on Dec. 20.
Katrina Lenk, who plays Bobbie, and Patti Lupone as Joanne are confirmed to return with the production, with the rest of the cast anticipated to return. An opening night is planned for Jan. 9, 2022 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
Tickets for the musical go on sale Tuesday. “Company” played nine preview performances before the March 12, 2020 Broadway shutdown.
“Company is a show about connecting, about the necessity of having other people in our lives,” “Company” composer Stephen Sondheim said in the press release. “This past year, with its isolation, has reminded us all of that need for togetherness, so I’m happy that Marianne Elliott’s startling and exhilarating production is coming back to Broadway.”
The revival, which features a book by George Furth, is directed by Elliot and choreographed by Liam Steel.
Like other Broadway productions that have announced a return, the safety protocols for the theater remain to be seen and will be developed by the theater owners in coordination with the state.
The theater, owned by Shubert Organization, will install new air filtration systems, according to the press release.
“Company” joins “Come From Away,” “Six,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Chicago” and “Mrs.Doubtfire” in announcing a recent return to Broadway.
