After graduating, Crutcher moved back to North Carolina and decided to make more history. She went to the University of North Carolina Wilmington and was on their inaugural Beach Volleyball team.

She believes that her time at Maryland and embracing daunting challenges helped her during this difficult transition.

“Maryland really prepared me for anything,” Crutcher said. “If it wasn’t for my time there, I don’t think I would’ve been able to then go and be a graduate student and start a whole new sport for a school.”

After graduating from UNCW, Crutcher became a teacher and a volleyball coach. She spent four years as a health and physical education teacher with Wake County Public Schools in North Carolina.

In July 2021, Crutcher decided it was time for a change and moved back up north.

The Maryland grad was hired by the Patriot League as an Administrative Intern where she serves as the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, women’s rowing, and softball.

In addition, she will assist with coordinating League championships and administering special projects within the League office.

Being an athlete at a power five conference like Maryland only showed Crutcher how much she loves being around high-level collegiate athletics.

“Once you’re in this environment, it’s very difficult to leave it,” Crutcher said. “I loved being a teacher, but being able to move to Pennsylvania and be with the Patriot League is such a great opportunity for me.”
