Rite Aid confirmed on Friday that it is closing a company-owned print shop on the West Shore.

The facility on Old Gettysburg Road in Lower Allen Township supports Rite Aid stores across the country, ABC27 reported.

Nine employees are impacted by the decision, according to Rite aid spokesperson Terri Hickey. The company said that the employees are encouraged to explore other relevant opportunities at Rite Aid, and that it’s providing those affected with severance packages and outplacing services.

Rite Aid will now use various vendors for printing services.

“As printing and production technologies have evolved, we too must evolve to keep pace in this ever changing environment to best serve our customers and locations while effectively managing costs,” the company said in a statement. “As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close the print shop and will be using various vendors to serve our printing needs.”

An employee told ABC27 that it wasn’t shocked by the closing because Rite Aid is moving its headquarters to Philadelphia and also that they could tell the volume of print jobs had been slowing.
