ST. LOUIS — Animation studio EnchantedMob is upsizing to a new downtown St. Louis office that’s 10 times larger than its previous space.
The company moved three blocks east from the Ludwig Lofts and signed a three-year lease at the Laclede Gas Building, at 720 Olive Street, in downtown’s central business district. Enchanted Mob occupies around 30,000 square feet, or two floors, at the building.
McCormack Baron Salazar, a national low-income housing developer, previously occupied the Laclede Gas Building space before it, too, moved elsewhere downtown.
The move comes as EnchantedMob is experiencing a growth spurt since launching the latest iteration of its popular horror video game Poppy Playtime. The studio doubled the number of employees to 20 in recent months with plans to bring on an additional 20, said Drake Vogl, director of operations.

Many of its employees live downtown, and the company has been able to hire recent graduates from Webster University and Washington University, he said.
“There’s a ton of creative people in St. Louis,” Vogl said. “You don’t have to be in L.A. or New York to make content that you care about.”
Downtown’s office occupancy rate in the first quarter of 2022 was 80%, flat compared to the same period in 2020, according to commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.
The metro area’s average office occupancy is 84.3%, down from 88.1%.
