Real Estate company launches podcast ‘Outdoor Addictions’

BROOKHAVEN — A new podcast releases Thursday from a local real estate company. Bruce Gray, Keith Kavitz and Kris Xifos are launching the “Outdoor Addictions” podcast. They work for Real Tree United Country McDaniel-Gray Realty office on South Railroad Avenue.
Kavitz was previously hit with the Dart this past June. He and Gray are members of the Southwest Mississippi Branch of the National Deer Association. They attended church together and knew each other but have grown to work together in real estate and the NDA.
Xifos is a marine veteran who fought terrorists overseas during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Together, they have started a podcast highlighting stories about the outdoors and real estate while hopefully sharing information that is educational to people.
“Hunting is ever-changing. You have never learned it all,” Gray said.
Kavitz said the idea to do a podcast came from Xifos, who wanted to reach the public. Xifos talked his coworkers into the idea, and they recorded episodes. The first episode of the podcast comes out today at 5 p.m. and will be available on Spotify, Apple Music and other podcast platforms. Kavitz said it should come out once a week.
Each week, Kavitz and Gray are joined by John Bass on SuperTalk 102.1 FM where they host the Land Pro Real Tree show. The show is about 18 minutes long and comes on air each Friday around 9 a.m.
“It has started to come together and we are looking for new ways to reach people,” Kavitz said. “We have been doing radio for three years and we have enjoyed it so far. Podcasts are another way to keep reaching people. I think it will be good. We enjoy it.”
The office has a variety of mounts, old pocket knives, duck and grunt calls, and artwork depicting wildlife. Kavitz, Gray and Xifos have great chemistry cutting jokes and sharing stories about the outdoors and Bass adds a snarky remark to keep the conversation in check on the radio show.
Gray said airtime is a great way to advertise and reach people. United Country McDaniel-Gray is different from real estate companies that sell homes. He said they aim to sell land and a lifestyle to people. The podcast and other outreach projects help with their mission.
“We specialize in selling lifestyle properties,” Gray said. “We don’t just sell land and homes. We sell lifestyles. We can tell you how many acres are on a property and help you with the hunting, fishing or farming side and meeting lifestyle questions. We cater to anyone who wants a property. We enjoy doing this.”
