The Great Plains Athletic Conference announced the suspension of all athletics for three weeks due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. There will be no activities from March 16 to April 5, with the GPAC Council of Presidents meeting on March 27 to reevaluate the situation.

The conference will also continue to review ts 2020 spring sports regular season and postseason competition.

The Summit League canceled its spring sport seasons, according to commissioner Tom Douple. It includes non-conference, conference and championship competitions.

The South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame banquet scheduled for April 25 in Sioux Falls has also been canceled. The 10 people scheduled to be inducted in 2020 included: Bruce Conley, Laverne Diede, Doug Eggers, Randy Fletcher, Kevin Leighton, Ronald Mitchell, Darwin Robinson, Ken Ruml, Heather (Sieler) Goehner and Steve Withorne. They will now be inducted at next year’s 2021 South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame banquet.
