A California-based modular home company is scouting the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a new plant location.

Murrieta-based S2A Modular bills itself as “the creator of the first electrically self-sustaining, custom and smart-connected luxury residences and commercial buildings.”

The company says it’s looking in the D-FW area for a location to build a plant. S2A Modular already has two plants on the way in California.

“S2A Modular is growing at an incredible rate, and as a company, we’ve already received an incredible amount of interest from homebuyers, developers and investors throughout Texas, so we are aggressively looking for the perfect location to build our third MegaFactory,” Brian Kuzdas, CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “With two S2A MegaFactories already under construction in California, we’re immensely excited to work with economic development agencies to find a location which will create hundreds of jobs and help stimulate local, regional and state economies.

“We look forward to bringing our manufacturing facilities to a location in Dallas that would benefit from both a MegaFactory, as well as the new homes and commercial buildings constructed there.”

The proposed plant would employ about 250 workers.

The company says it’s also searching for plant sites in Arizona and Florida, part of a plan to build more than two dozen U.S. manufacturing facilities during the next few years.

Started in 2018, S2A Modular intends to produce modular homes, apartments, hotels and other buildings.

The homes it builds use a Tesla Powerwall battery system and solar panels to produce electricity.

S2A says it is working with other manufacturers, including LG Electronics, Mitsubishi, AO Smith, Netgear and Broadstreet, to produce the buildings.

The company is looking for 20 to 40 acres for its North Texas location.
