COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- Head coach Jason Rodenhaver and the Maryland men's gold team officially signed 11-year-old Quinn to the program via Team IMPACT, an organization that pairs children facing serious and chronic illnesses with college athletic programs.
"All of our guys are thrilled to welcome Quinn to our golf family. We look forward to growing our relationship with Quinn and his family. Hopefully we can get him out to the golf course later this spring," Rodenhaver said.
Junior Will Koras and sophomore Thomas Eubanks will serve as the student-athlete liaisons for the team.
"I am really excited to welcome to Quinn to our team. The team is very excited to continue to get to know him better. We believe partnering with Team Impact and Quinn will greatly benefit out team," Koars expressed.
"Team Impact is something I have been wanting to be involved in for quite some time now and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Quinn," Eubanks said. "I am very excited to continue to grow a strong relationship with Quinn and his family and look forward to meeting him in person once it's safe to do so!"
Quinn is 11 years old and lives with his parents and sisters in Le
Leesburg, Virginia. Quinn is bright, competitive, and loves all sports. A little over two years ago, Quinn was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a form of pediatric cancer. Despite the challenges, including chemotherapy, surgeries, and relapse, he completed his final round of treatment recently.
Quinn started to play golf over the past year, and is learning the in's and out's of the sport. He is excited to learn from his new teammates, and being shown what being a Terp is all about.
