Cognizant, an $18.5-billion global IT solution provider, Tuesday terminated its top Americas executive due to “behavior inconsistent with company policy.”
Teaneck, N.J.-based Cognizant, in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing, said that Gregory Hyttenrauch, the company’s executive vice president and president of its Americas business, was terminated on June 28.
Hyttenrauch, in his role as president of the Americas, led Cognizant’s business in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, and was responsible for the region’s overall strategic direction and performance. He started in that position in January 2021 after a year as president of the company’s digital systems and technology.

Prior to that, Hyttenrauch was director of global cloud and security services at Vodafone Business.
Cognizant said that Surya Gummadi has been named as interim leader of Cognizant Americas. “Gummadi has been with the Company since 2000 and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Company’s Healthcare and Life Sciences business,” the filing said.
Hyttenrauch did not respond to a CRN request via LinkedIn for more information or a response to the termination by press time.
A Cognizant spokesperson replied via email to a CRN request for more information that the SEC filing speaks for itself and that the company does not comment on the reasons for the departure of any of its executives.
