In 1970, Stephen Sondheim’s “Company” won six Tonys.
Now, 52 years later, the celebrated production about unmarried 35-year-old Bobbie (Katrina Lenk) and her oldest, most cynical, and most divorced of friend Joanne (Patti LuPone) is back at the Tonys for another spin.
This time around, the show is nominated for nine Tonys including Best Musical Revival.
On the acting side, LuPone and cast mates Matt Doyle and Jennifer Simard were all nominated for Best Featured Actor/Actress in a musical.
Deadline called the show a “gorgeous revival” featuring “across-the-board excellent performances and thoughtful revisions to the visual delight of a lovely and ingeniously clever set design.”
