Prior to the 2020 NFL Draft, SEC Network analyst and 8-year NFL veteran Marcus Spears predicted that Kentucky's Lynn Bowden Jr. was the biggest sleeper in the draft.
Bowden, a consensus First Team All-American as an all-purpose player and the winner of the Paul Hornung Award presented to the most versatile player in college football, was selected No. 80 overall in the third round by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Now, NFL Network analyst Steve Smith Sr. believes that Bowden, in one of the best wide receiver classes in recent memory, will have the biggest impact.

"For me the wide receiver to have the biggest impact is Lynn Bowden Jr. out of Kentucky," Smith said on NFL Total Access. "The Las Vegas Raiders took him in the third round and what I really love about him, when he was drafted, it said running back. He played quarterback, he played wide receiver, he played running back, plays punt return, Mr. Everything."
A 16-year veteran with the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens, Smith knows a thing or two about playing wide receiver in the NFL. Smith was a five-time pro bowler, two-time First Team All-Pro, and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year after leading the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2005.
Smith says Bowden reminds him of another college quarterback turned NFL wide receiver.
"He reminds me of a guy that was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and threw a touchdown pass to Hines Ward in the Super Bowl in 2005 which is Antwaan Randle El, former quarterback at Indiana," Smith said. "So I love Lynn Bowden Jr. because he's going to do everything and you know Jon Gruden is going to get in his plays and design a lot of creative things for this young man."
After leading Kentucky in receptions (30) and receiving yards (348) over the first five games, Bowden was forced into action at quarterback, where he offered up one of the most prolific offensive seasons in school history, leading the nation in yards per carry (7.9) and leading the SEC in rushing yards (1,468) to go along with 13 touchdowns.
Bowden's 1,468 rushing yards are second only to Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton for the single-season rushing mark by a quarterback. He broke the SEC single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback in the regular season finale vs. Louisville, running for 284 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-13 win.
In the Belk Bowl vs. Virginia Tech, Bowden rushed for 233 yards--the most-ever by a quarterback in a bowl game, breaking the record set by Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M (229) in the 2013 Cotton Bowl--and then threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 15 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 37-30 win.
"I'm excited about Lynn playing with Vegas," UK head coach Mark Stoops said.
"I think he'll be a great fit. I think the fan base will be energized by him, and I think he will feed off that. I think Coach Gruden is a really good fit for Lynn. I know Coach, and I think the way he can relate to Lynn and get things out of him, and continue to help Lynn grow, I think that's really important. I think it's a really good fit, and hopefully things will work out for both sides."
