Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is offering current and potential impact investors a road map, the "Impact Investing Handbook: An Implementation Guide for Practitioners," released Thursday.
The handbook offers frameworks and actionable tools to help asset owners align investments with values. Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors President and CEO Melissa A. Berman said in a statement that impact investing "is reshaping how philanthropy defines its operating models ... Indeed, without impact investing, the kind of systems change we need to solve deeply persistent challenges and inequities will continue to elude us. That's part of why we're so optimistic about the next decade for this practice."
Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is a non-profit organization that manages more than $200 million in annual giving by individuals, families, corporations and foundations. RPA has been involved in impact investing and mission-related investing since 2008 and with incubating several collaboratives to promote impact investing.
Authors Steven Godeke, founder of Godeke Consulting, and Patrick Briaud, RPA's lead adviser for impact investing, spent two years talking with impact investing advisers and practitioners. The handbook covers the evolution of impact investing, portfolio construction, an evaluation framework and implementation plan, and offers a series of exercises for developing a capital deployment strategy that can be customized for interests and holdings.
